Our Founder

Jamila Collins is the visionary behind Bumblebeez, a Columbus-born, faith-centered mentoring program for girls ages 10–13. A proud graduate of Eastmoor High School, Jamila continued her education at Wilberforce University (B.S., Marketing) and later earned her MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Her calling to mentorship runs deep. In college, Jamila served with the Wilberforce University Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. In her corporate career, she co-chaired the Chase Leadership Academy (in partnership with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Columbus) and mentored through the Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) program with the National Black MBA Association—Columbus Chapter, coaching students at national conferences and competitions.

Professionally, Jamila built trusted relationships and led community-focused initiatives across the financial-services and advocacy landscape, experience she now channels into Bumblebeez’s 10-month, Bible-anchored model. Under her leadership, the program blends scripture application with real-world skills—including Etiquette, AI, and Debate workshops—and culminates in an HBCU Summer Tour that expands each girl’s vision for college and calling. Since launching on January 4, 2014, Bumblebeez has grown from a room of 30 supporters and 4 first-cycle graduates to serving 50+ girls from Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton, producing college graduates and current collegians across the country.

Above all, Jamila’s favorite title is Mom. She treasures her relationship with her son, Justyn Harper, who inspires her daily commitment to faith, family, and the flourishing of young women.

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. (Titus 2:3-5)
